Desjardins Group, founded in 1900 in Lévis, Quebec by Alphonse Desjardins, is Canada's financial services cooperative and the largest credit union federation in North America. As of 2017, the Desjardins Group consists of 293 local credit unions operating 1,032 service locations serving more than 7 million members and customers. In addition to retail banking, the Group has more than 20 subsidiaries that provide services related to insurance, real estate, venture capital funds. In October 2020, Desjardins launched Aequitas, a social impact fund that could grow to $115 million to help women and youth in developing countries.
